It is still a given in many places of work that you will operate within a team. The success of the business, or organisation, depends on the team working together as a unit and being of one mind and ambition. Unfortunately, human beings have personalities that can rub up badly against each other, so there are times when it is a good idea to try and create a sense of belonging and good will within the team via an away day or team building exercise.
One of the best ways to do this is via a shared activity and experience. That is not to say that you should simply give them a task to build say, the highest tower out of Lego. An increasingly popular option is to make a day of it and send them on a Tank Driving day. Whilst this might seem unusual and unconventional it can reap rewards as the difference of the situation might bring out a sense of shared goals and community amongst the team.
Whatever approach that you decide to use good team wellbeing is something that all Senior and middle managers increasingly have to focus on. It will enable the employees to stay productive and partial to the company’s mission statement.
