Warehouse jobs at Selco Builders Warehouse are hands-on and can be varied, so it’s worth getting a realistic view of what a job involves before you apply for a vacancy.
Receiving and Checking Deliveries
The incoming stock is then unloaded from the vehicles and checked against the delivery note for quantities. Any damaged or missing items are highlighted on the note to resolve later.
Picking and Staging Orders
Trade customers will be requiring orders to be collected and staged in the Trade Counter for collection by the customer. This will be completed using location lists and stock will be placed in the relevant pick face bay.
Operating Handling Equipment
In terms of operating handling equipment in the warehouse, most of our roles will include the use of pump trucks and counterbalance forklifts. Employers must follow guidance on the safe use of fork-lift trucks in the workplace, which we do at Selco. However, you will need to be comfortable using physical equipment and will receive training where necessary.
Stock Replenishment
Keeping locations topped up and correctly labelled is a regular task within the role of a Warehouse Team Member. This involves moving bulk stock from the racking to the pick faces throughout the shift.
Working with the Trade Counter Team
Communication with the trade counter is essential especially in the busy morning trade. As with the trade counter staff you will need to work at a good pace to ensure a smooth service to the customers.
