What to Bring to Emergency First Aid Training

Arriving prepared for your course will help the day to run more smoothly and allow you to focus on learning the skills required for Emergency First Aid at Work rather than dealing with the logistics of the day.

Comfortable Clothing and Footwear

You will be completing CPR attempts and practising recovery positions on the floor. You should wear clothing that allows you to move freely. Comfortable loose fitting trousers or leggings and a fitting t-shirt or top would be suitable. Avoid wearing items such as skirts, tight jeans, or anything that you wouldn’t want to kneel in. Wear flat, closed-toe shoes.

Your Booking Confirmation and ID

Please bring a copy of your booking confirmation (either printed or on your phone) and some form of photo ID (such as a passport or driving license) as you will need to show these on arrival at the venue. If your employer has booked the course on your behalf please check if they have sent you your joining instructions.

Food, Drink and Dietary Needs

Even if the provider of your Emergency First Aid Training course is supplying refreshments for the course, it is wise to bring your own food and drink for the day, especially as the courses are full days. Also, if you have any specific dietary needs (e.g. diabetic, gluten-free, etc.) it is wise to inform the provider in advance so that they can make the necessary arrangements for you. A refillable water bottle is always a good idea to bring to any course.

Any Medical Information Worth Declaring

If you have a medical condition which may mean you are unable to fully participate in certain exercises that involve physical activity (e.g. bad back, recent injury, heart problems) then please inform the trainer at the start of the course. Knowing in advance what sort of things you will be learning on the course can also help you to work out which areas may require some adaptation to enable you to fully participate. Most trainers are happy to make adjustments as required to enable all participants to get the most from the course.

Any Medications You May Need

If you are on any medication please bring it with you and make your trainer aware of it. You do not have to explain to the rest of the group but the trainer should be made aware so that they can take this into account when scheduling breaks.
